Old Future is imagined to be a relic of the early digital era, in which the future was stylized as having a very distinct "Virtual Reality" aesthetic of holograms, chrome and 3-D images. The partial erasure of this holographic paper is evidence of the passage of time, and of certain predictions of the future that now already seem dated.
